Mirik Lake
Mirik Lake, or Sumendu Lake, is a picturesque man-made lake located in the town of Mirik in West Bengal, India. Nestled amidst the scenic Darjeeling hills at an elevation of about 1,767 meters (5,800 feet), the lake is a popular tourist destination known for its serene environment and natural beauty. Surrounded by a well-maintained garden on one side and pine forests on the other, Mirik Lake features a charming footbridge called the Indreni Pull. The lake’s calm waters reflect the surrounding greenery and distant snow-capped peaks, creating a tranquil and scenic setting ideal for boating, leisurely walks, and photography.
